P7 Boys Come So Close
Sport can be cruel sometimes, and this proved to be the case for our football team in the 2025 South Belfast League.
Their record after 20 games in the competition read:
Played - 20
Won - 15
Drew - 4
Lost - 1
Despite this exceptional effort, coupled with the fact that they conceded 1 goal in the last 10 games, the boys finished runner-up in the league, by a single point.
The final game out of the 20 was a winner-takes-all match against eventual winner Stranmillis PS. Our boys played on the front foot all game and had chances cleared off the line, a penalty claim waved away, and had lots more shots than Stranmillis, but they just couldn't find the goal they needed to take home the trophy.
They were understandably disappointed after their Herculean effort over the last few months, but they will come back stronger and more determined for the next tournament.
We are so proud of you all, boys! You have been a credit to the school in how you played all through the league and how you conducted yourselves on and off the field.
