St. Ita's made a fantastic start to their South Belfast League soccer campaign today with 5 wins out of 5 matches.
Their opponents on the day were Holy Rosary, Rosetta PS, Knockbreda PS, Scoil an Droichid and Loughview PS.
They showed excellent skill in attack and great determination when defending to score 20 and only concede one goal across the 5 games.
This puts them in a good position at the top of our group of 6. After the next round of the league in 2 weeks, the top 3 teams in our group will be joined by the top 3 schools in the other group of 6 to play-off for the league trophy.
Well done boys! You were superb all day!
Mr Phillip Brennan, from the Knights of Columbanus, visited the school just before Christmas and presented awards to the winners of the P7 Art Competition.
Mrs Una O’Hare visited St. Ita’ before Christmas to collect a cheque of £1,250, for St. Vincent de Paul. We would like to thank everyone in the school community for contributing to this charity. Your generosity is always very much appreciated.
Robert, the ‘Community Champion’ at Tesco’s at Newtownbreda visited St. Ita’s to present awards to the winners of the P1-P3 Christmas Art Competition.
Despite the cold and mucky conditions in Newcastle, our cross-country runners performed brilliantly, just before Christmas. The competition was fierce with plenty of competing schools.
Both the girls and boys teams were fantastic, with the girls coming joint first with the lowest combined scores and the boys coming second with the second lowest combined score.
This is a great achievement for all involved, well done!
Moving forward to the next round, we wish all the runners the best of luck.
A huge congratulations to Noah from Ms Flanagan's P6 class who raised an incredible £2,063.60 for Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice. Noah has been selected for TeamNI as part of the Barcelona Experience and will be heading to Spain in May for the Nations Cup tournament. The children are allowed to get sponsored and display logos on their kit. Noah and his family thought it would be a lovely idea to support a charity and approached the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice to fundraise and to display their logo on his kit to help give the charity some exposure. Noah's fundraising efforts included taking part in the Festive 5k at the V36 Valley Park where he came 38th out of 430 runners that included mostly adults. He also spent two hours in Tesco Newtownbreda doing a bucket collection. The class and their parents were significant contributors to this total and Noah and his family are so thankful for everyone’s generosity. Noah, your hard work and kindness are truly inspiring. Well done!
A selection of St Ita's P4 and P5 children have had their work published through Art Club. The children entered a competition called ‘Perfect Pets’ where they had to design and name a pet creation. The children that entered had their work proudly published in the ‘Perfect Pets’ book! Well done to those P4 and P5 children for their creativity and ambition!
