  • P6 Fundraisers

    Tue 24 Jun 2025

Last week Mrs Fanning's P6 class heard about the ‘Madleen’ a Peace Flotilla heading to Gaza with 12 humanitarians on board. One of whom was Greta Thumberg.

They were bringing aid to Gaza. The class were struck by the bravery of the crew and then were shocked and saddened to hear that they were unable to drop off their food, medicine, water and baby formula as they were kidnapped by the Israeli army at sea! Although all of the humanitarians were later released, the class were saddened to hear that their supplies were not allowed into Gaza.

The children wanted to do something to help! They got together in the playground and came up with a plan. They gathered their pocket money, pestered parents, sold pencils and made bracelets to sell and raised a whopping £375 within the week!

Joe Scott and his dad sent the money raised to the charity UNICEF’s Gaza Appeal for Children in Crisis. For context £100 helps pay for school supplies to help at least 30 children continue their education in an emergency.

P6 FF want everyone to keep their eyes on Gaza and wished to share their class motto with the world… “Kids can do more, demolishing war!”
