  • Abigail is a Star!

    On Monday 27th June, St Ita's staff enjoyed refreshments in the company of Father Sean Rogan, Fr Sean McCartney and Mrs Suzanne Eastwood, Chairperson of the Board of Governors.

     

    We were delighted to welcome Fr. Sean Rogan and present him with a gift in honour of the Diamond Jubilee of his Ordination. We were also delighted to welcome back Fr Sean McCartney to celebrate his very special birthday with him.

     

    A big ' Thank You' to Abigail who played the piano and amazed the whole staff with her musical talent. Abigail achieved Grade 6 in the piano recently. She is an absolute Star! 

     

    Fr Sean was so impressed by Abi that he also had a go and displayed a wonderful flair for playing the piano! Well done Abigail and Father Sean.

     

  • Design a Stencil Competition Winners

    Primary 7 pupils, along with many other children in the Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council area entered a 'Design a Stencil Competition' to promote responsible dog ownership.

    Siobhan from Ms Flanagan's class won first prize from hundreds of entries! Her stencil will be used to spray paint on pavements where dog fouling is a problem. Sean, also from Ms Flanagan's class won the 2nd prize. Well done Siobhan and Sean.

    Councillor Martin Gregg and Ciara Brunty from LCCC came to St Ita's to present the children with their prizes.

  • St Ita's - School of the Year

    St.Ita’s Primary School has received the prestigious ‘Eco-School of the Year 2021-22’ award for Lisburn and Castlereagh council. Mrs Cleland and the P6 Eco representatives attended the Eco-School’s award ceremony at Lagan Valley Island. The award recognises excellence in the Eco-School’s programme. Environmental education and awareness are an intrinsic part of the life and ethos of St.Ita’s. The children identify and lead action on global issues such as climate change, global warming and plastic pollution. St.Ita’s maintain their beautiful school grounds and wildflower meadow with the help of school gardener Ms Sheila Smart. The school enjoys valuable links with organisations such as the Adsum Foundation, Sustrans and the Nursery Forest School programme. St.Ita’s continue to maintain their Ambassador status for good practice in the Eco School’s programme. Councillor Martin Gregg came along to St Ita's to see the Eco team in action.

  • St Ita's Supporting ADSUM

    St Ita’s have been fundraising for ADSUM Foundation since Autumn 2016. During that time money has been raised through,  Mad Hair Days, Christmas Jumper Days and Trocaire.

     The Borehole projects sponsored by ADSUM  ensure that schools and their communities in rural Madagascar benefit from clean drinking water. The latest installation  of a borehole and hand –pump in August 2021  has provided clean drinking water for  Nanarena Primary school and the surrounding area in the Southeast of  Madagascar.  Follow the link below to the report which gives gives detailed information and photos on the different stages of the project.

  • St Ita's Lenten Campaign Raises over £4000

    Over the Lenten period St Ita's raised £4213.95 for Trocaire’s Ukraine fund through various fundraising activities with the children including a  bingo afternoon, wacky hair day, dance-a-thons and many other fundraising activities. Children from P2 and P6 presented Mark from Trocaire with a cheque for the magnificent total. We would like to say thank you to all our fabulous fundraisers!

  • P7 Present Cheque to Concern

    Primary 7 raised £600 for the charity Concern Worldwide. The children really wanted to do something collectively for the people of Ukraine. Ayla Hunt came up with the idea to do “Kilometres to Kyiv”. Children in Primary 7 got sponsored to walk 100k during Lent to collectively make the journey from St Ita’s to Kyiv. Well done to all involved.

  • Go Caoimhe & Odhran

    Two of our runners, Odhran P7 and Caoimhe P6, qualified for the NI primary school cross-country endurance training squad. Only the top 20 runners in the whole of Northern Ireland were chosen for this squad so it was a very proud moment for both Odhran’s and Caoimhe’s families and the school when they were chosen.
