June marked the end of an era at St Ita's. After 20 years at the helm, our Principal, Mrs Joanne Browne took early retirement. Another, school stalwart, Mrs Kavanagh also retired. They were given wonderful send offs by the whole school community including 2 fabulous assemblies. You can view some photos below. The assemblies will soon be available to view on the school videos tab.
We wish Mrs Browne and Mrs Kavanagh a long, healthy and happy retirement. We know that they have lots of exciting things planned and look forward to following their adventures - Bon Voyage!
This week St Ita's presented a cheque to the Children's Cancer Unit Charity for £9,700. Maire from the Children's Cancer Charity visited St Ita's for the presentation. We would like to thank everyone who helped us raise such a wonderful total!
A selection of Primary 6 and 7 children from Miss Houston’s Art Club entered the ‘Mythical Creatures’ art competition by ‘Young Artists’. They had to design and name a mythical creature. This competition was UK-wide and all of the children that entered from St Ita’s proudly got their work published in the book. Leo from Mrs Fanning’s class actually won the whole competition and got her art displayed on the front cover! Well done to those children for their creativity and ambition, and congratulations to Leo who got a winning goodie bag also.
On their last day at St Ita's, pupils were presented with the P7 Leavers' Awards. Amongst the many awards were the Sports Boy and Sports Girl of the Year, the Niamh Beattie Sports Endeavour Award and the Pupil of the Year Award. Congratulations to all our Award winners. You can view photos from the Leavers' Parade on the Gallery Page
