St. Ita's Sports Evening
Wed 15 May 2013St. Ita's Sports Evening was held on a beautiful sunny, but at times cool, evening at Loughmoss Leisure Centre. Conditions underfoot were a bit soft but this did not deter pupils in any way.
A new format was introduced this year with the emphasis on fun and participation for all the girls and boys. Judging by the amount of laughter and smiles on the faces of pupils and parents, the new format seems to have been a big hit.
Thank you to boys and girls, parents and St. Ita's staff who made the evening such a great success. A special word of thanks to Mr. Close for all his great work in organising this fabulous event! Please see the Sports Evening photo gallery in Latest News Documents. -
St. Ita's Shine in County Down League
Mon 13 May 2013St. Ita’s Gaelic Football team continued their great form with a fantastic victory over local rivals, St. Joseph’s with a scoreline of 4-7 to 3-8 in the County Down Cumman Na mBunscoil league on Thursday 9th May. The boys put in a tremendous effort and worked together as a team to overcome very strong opponents. Well done to all the boys who have been picked to represent St. Ita’s so far this season. We have now won our first 3 games of the league, with victories over St. Michael’s and Our Lady and St. Patrick’s, Downpatrick. St. Ita's will next play Castlewellan, knowing a victory will guarantee a place in the quarter finals. Good luck boys! -
PTFA Craft Fair - A Big Success

As many of you will know, our Craft Fair on Saturday was another massive success. Families and friends came along in huge numbers and supported this wonderful event, and the weather was great, it stayed lovely and dry... except for our male volunteers, who got very wet at the Sponge the Staff game.... It proved to be very popular!! There was a fantastic happy atmosphere all day.Check out the PTFA page or see Latest News Documents for some photos of the day.After costs we raised a fabulous £3,175.00!!!!This figure was well beyond our expectations and it would not have been possible without all your support.The PTFA would like to say an enormous thank you to all who attended and supported the day, all who donated prizes for the Tombola and Ballot and to our extra helpers who gave up their time to assist. -
Craft Fair this Saturday
Wed 24 Apr 2013St. Ita's Annual Spring Craft Fair is being held this Saturday 27th April from 1.00 - 4.00pm. There will be over 30 stalls with something for everyone so don't miss it.
Admission; Adult £2, Children £1, Family Ticket £5 -
St. Ita's Closure
Fri 22 Mar 2013Following an inspection of the school, surrounding side roads and taking account of the latest Met. Office forecast, St Ita's Primary School will be closed today, Friday 22nd March 2013.

P3 Sacrament of Reconciliation
Thu 21 Mar 2013On Thursday 21st March the P3 boys and girls celebrated the Sacrament of Reconciliation in our Parish Church. It was a beautiful service.
After the Sacrament the children received a wooden cross as a special gift from the Parish, which they will treasure.
Well done to all the P3 children! Your teachers and parents are very proud of you!
A special thanks to all the priests who attended the service.

St.Patrick's Day Concerts
Fri 15 Mar 2013St.Patrick's Day was celebrated in St.Ita's on Friday 15th March.
Two fantastic concerts took place in our assembly hall. Individuals from every class showcased their talents and performed Irish songs, dances or recited poetry.

Mrs Browne's Boys & Girls Triumph at the Quiz Night
Sat 09 Feb 2013he annual PTFA Quiz Night was held on Friday night in the Ivanhoe Hotel. There was a great turnout with 17 teams competing this year and as usual the craic was good.Quiz Master Conor Mackle’s new PA system made its first public appearance, which made sure even the noisy teams at the back of the room could hear all the questions.After 7 rounds of questions, the top of the leader board was very congested with only a few points separating the top half dozen.It took a tie-break question to decide 2nd and 3rd place but the winners, who had been around the top of the leader board all evening were a team called, very aptly,
Mrs Browne’s Boys & Girls.The PTFA would like to thank everyone for coming out and showing such great support for the event and for the many ballot tickets sold. Watch this space for news on the total amount raised.A big thank you must go to Conor Mackle who makes our Quiz such a great event. P2 help to create an amazing Nativity Scene for the Hilton Hotel Belfast
Fri 21 Dec 2012Every December a local art teacher called Pat Bennett from St.Gerard's ERC works with children to create a Nativity scene for the Hilton Hotel in Belfast. Each year the huge figures are inspired by the work of a particular artist. This year the Nativity figures centred on the work of the German / Swiss artist Paul Klee.
Mrs Bennett won the N.Ireland teaching award for 'Lifetime achievement' and invited Miss Kettle to join her in a joint art project, following the awards ceremony in October.
The boys and girls in P2 had great fun decorating sheep using a range of materials.
The finished masterpiece is truly magnificent and will be in the foyer of the Hilton Hotel from 21st December 2012 to 6th January 2013.
