We welcomed Paula Devenney from Cahill's/Truly Fare into St. Ita’s on Wednesday 6th November to present our pupils with a brand-new set of basketball jerseys and shorts. These were very kindly donated by Truly Fare and will be proudly worn at our P5, P6 & P7 basketball blitzes throughout the year. Their generous gift is very much appreciated.

A massive congratulations to Eilís from P5. Eilís has been growing her hair for quite a while now. She decided to get it cut and donate it to the ‘Little Princess Trust’ for those children who have lost their hair through cancer treatment and for the families affected by this illness. She raised a fantastic £730 in doing so. One of the most important things we can do in life is to do something to help others and put a smile on their faces; Eilís has certainly done that with this selfless deed. We are all very proud of Eilís and her wonderful act of generosity.

Our Gaelic football teams have had a busy few months. Our Autumn League Squads competed in the league semi-finals this week with the girls qualifying for the final in two weeks. 

We also had almost 50 P6 and P7s travel up to @Carryduff GAC to play our neighbours, St. Joseph's in two friendly matches to mark the opening of their new pitch.

Well done to all our players. Having almost 80 players represent the school in Term 1 is quite the achievement!

St Ita's iTalk - October 2024

We celebrated our first School Mass of the Year this week.

St Ita's 2024-25 Digital Leaders have been revealed. 

Our P6 and P7 girls made a great start to the Gaelic Football season in the Autumn League at Woodlands Playing Fields. The girls played 3 matches against St. Bernard's, St. Michael's and St. Bride's and came away with three great wins.

The girls battled hard for every ball, tackled ferociously and displayed some wonderful attacking play across all of the matches. Each win was a real team effort but a special mention must go Laura Mc from P7CM who stepped in to goals for her first ever Gaelic Football matches and played liked a seasoned professional.

Following on from the great performance of the girls' team, the boys' team did brilliantly themselves and have also qualified for the semi-finals.

They were placed in a group against St. Bernard's, St. Michael's, St. Bride's, and St. Joseph's, with all four matches being extremely competitive.

The boys came away with two draws, one loss, and a very tense draw against our near neighbours, St. Joseph's, which means that they qualify as runners-up in the group.

Both teams will play their semi-finals on Wednesday, 23rd October, at Rossa GAC.

The girls are on first at 1:15 p.m. vs. Holy Child.  

The boys play at 2:00 p.m. vs. St. Anne's.

This has been an excellent start to the Gaelic football year in St. Ita's, with over 35 pupils representing the school already. This will increase further when another 40 boys and girls from P6 and P7 travel up to Carryduff GAC at 11 a.m. on Friday, 18th October, for a friendly match against St. Joseph's to mark the opening of the new pitch at the club. I think this is a good indicator of how strong Gaelic games are in our school.
