Mr and Mrs Price donate £6,000 to the school- THANK YOU!

We were overwhelmed by the generous contribution made by Mr and Mrs Price, parents of Jake in P2 and the twins, Liam and Ryan in our Nursery.

The school was able to purchase a class set of 30 chrome books (£4,529.70), the licence for each

Chrome (£855) and a three year collect and return guarantee (£615.60).

With our whole school curriculum priority being UICT, specifically desktop publishing and managing data, the chrome books could not have arrived at a better time. Thank you from everyone in our school community.

C2K Newsdesk World Book Day Competition

The P7 pupils took part in a C2k Newsdesk competition before mid-term break. The theme of this competition was ‘Novel Characters: Heroes and Villains’.

The pupils had to choose a suitable character from their favourite novel and write a one minute presentation about this character.

Clodagh Casey, from Mrs Barr’s class, won this competition. She will take part in the EATV/C2K Newsdesk programme to be broadcast on World Book Day, Thursday 7th March.

Clodagh was filmed  presenting her favourite character in the C2K Newsdesk studios.  She spoke with Amelia, the programme presenter, for a minute or so about she why she thinks her character is memorable. Clodagh will be competing against pupils from other primary schools in Northern Ireland.

Pupils watching the programme on Newsdesk on World Book Day, Thursday 7^th March, will be able to vote for the best presentation/character.

I would be extremely grateful if you could remember to tune in to this programme on World Book Day and get your child to vote for the best presenter!

in St. Ita’s

During the last week of Term one, we did a fund raiser for Cystic Fibrosis in memory of Mr Stephen Clarke, daddy to Lucy in P4 and Simon in the Nursery.

Stephen died last year of Cystic Fibrosis. He believed in the power of exercise and that everyone can do exercise despite age or disability.

Each class completed 20 minutes of exercise. Pupils really enjoyed this activity and parents donated very generously. To date we have raised £1821. Thanks again parents for your amazing generosity.

The cheque will be presented to a representative from Cystic Fibrosis at the end of January.

Four pupils from St. Ita's, Caitlin, Eoin, John and Aran  took part in the Lisburn and Castlereagh area heat of the NI Primary Schools Road Safety quiz which was held at the Lisburn Leisureplex before mid-term break.. 

The quiz consisted of seven rounds of eight questions plus an extra round on road signs. The road safety questions were mostly aimed at pedestrians, cyclists, the use of seat belts, crossing the road and the proper use of pedestrian crossings.

Caitlin, Eoin, John and Aran did so well and came third in the heat, only missing out on second place by the narrowest of margins. Unfortunately this meant that they were unable to participate in the next round of the quiz. 

However, they did so well and everyone at St. Ita's are so proud of their achievement. They represented St. Ita's so well. 

The application process for entry into Nursery and Primary One in September 2019 has changed. The Education Authority has recently informed schools of a new portal for parents to apply online.

We await further information on this process. The Go Live date for the new digital admissions is Wednesday 2nd January 2019 at 10am. The closing time and date for punctual applications will be 12.00 midnight on Thursday 31st January 2019.
