St Ita's Boys and Girls Gaelic Teams both qualify for the Division 1 Winter League Finals

Our boys and girls Gaelic Footballers both qualified for the Division 1 Winter League finals after wins against St. John the Baptist and Holy Child Primary Schools this afternoon.

Our boys played their match first and started very strongly with Tom Hickson and Joseph Kerr working hard in midfield. Oliver White and Fintan McArdle were looking sharp up front and their movement helped the team work their way in for a number of first half goals. Their opponents didn’t give up and played right to the end but so did the St. Ita’s players. Rory McConnell, Fionn Dougan and Shay Spillane were all rock solid at the back. The boys put in a great performance and will be looking forward to the final next week where their opponents will be Bunscoil Phobal Feirste.

The girls team faced similarly tough opponents in Holy Child Primary School. Evie McHugh and Hannah Cassin were the engine room in midfield and set up attack after attack. Aisling McCaul and Helen McGeough marshalled the defence well and stopped any opposition attackers from getting easy scores. Orlaith McMahon and Rebecca McDonnell worked hard up front and created some great scoring chances. Every single girl battled non-stop from the first whistle to the last and deserved their win. They will now face Holy Trinity Primary School in their final next week.

    Maith sibh uilig!

  • St Ita's Girls reach Semi Finals!

    St. Ita's Girls reach Semi-Finals!

The St. Ita's Girls Gaelic Foofball team headed to St Brigit's Playing Fields on Thursday 10th October in an attempt to reach the semi-finals in the Belfast Girls' League.

They had to play three matches against local Belfast Primary Schools - St Anne's, St Michael's and St. Bride's.

The girls played tremendously well in all three matches winning the first two by wide margins and drawing the third against St. Bride's. Due to the massive points difference St. Ita's girls go through to the semi-finals as winners of their section.

The skills on display- catching, passing, soloing, blocking, shooting, tackling and support play were wonderful to behold. Every single girl played their part and are to be congratulated for the tremendous endeavour that they displayed. Those watching were indeed very impressed!

We wish them all the best for the semi-finals!

    Good Luck Girls!

  • St. Ita's girls make history!

    Tue 01 Oct 2019

On Saturday 28th September, eight girls from Mrs Barr's P7 class made history as they were part of the first team from Bredagh GAC to win the Ita O'Connor Cup.

Ruby, Evie, Lauren, Ellen, Rebecca, Anna, Lauryn and Latoya played game after game, scored goal after goal until they won the final game of the tournament.

The girls were fierce, fearless and brave.  They supported each other and encouraged each other when the going got tough.

They deserve this win after training so hard all year and putting in lots of practice.

A big Thank You must also go to Miss Rocks who was part of the coaching team.

Well done girls.  Enjoy your success!
