  • Golden Goal St Ita's

    Fri 08 Dec 2023

A great day of hurling finished with an extra time 'golden goal' winner for St Ita's!

St. Ita's hurlers travelled to Corrigan Park, the home of St. John's GAC to take part in the Cumann na mBunscol ground hurling blitz last week. The boys were a credit to themselves and played excellently well throughout the day. They won 4 out of their 5 matches which qualified them for the final against the only team that had beaten them. The final was a tense affair, with nothing separating the sides when the whistle sounded to end the game so an extra two minutes was added on. There was stalemate again after this so the game went to 'golden goal' to determine the winner. A super strike from Peadar flew past the keeper and signalled the final whistle. There was elation following the whistle as the boys collected the trophy and their medals.

  • Cross Country Success

    Thu 07 Dec 2023

Despite the tough conditions in Newcastle on Monday, our cross-country runners did fantastically well and got some great results!

Peadar ended up coming 2nd and collected the silver medal in the Boys' race and the team overall came in first place in County Down for having the lowest combined points.

Rebecca narrowly missed out on a medal in the girls race and the girls' team collectively had the lowest combined points so they finished in first place as well.

A great achievement for the team and a real testament to the talent in our school!

Below is a link to a copy of the results for anyone who hasn't seen it. Find the Co. Down tab and you'll see the results for our races!
