  • Caoilainn is an absolute Star!

    Mon 15 Nov 2021

What an Amazing act of Generosity by Caoilainn!

Caoilainn (P5) has been growing her hair since she was small and over the summer holidays she decided to cut her hair and donate it to the Little Princess Trust.  Caoilainn has donated 29cm of her hair, which will be used to create a wig for a child who has lost their hair due to treatments he or she was having in hospital.

Alongside the hair donation, Caoilainn’s mum and dad set up a ‘Just Giving’ page, so family and friends could donate to the Little Princess Trust in support of her. They would like to thank all the children who donated money, many of whom are in Caoilainn’s class.

Caoilainn has managed to raise an incredible £885 for this wonderful charity.

We are all very proud of Caoilainn, as she chose to do a very brave thing, to help other children who are very sick.

Mrs Browne presented Caoilainn with her two certificates from the Little Princess Trust and in light of this huge fundraising effort the Little Princess Trust, has also awarded Caoilainn a badge and wristband in recognition of her outstanding contribution.

Well done Caoilainn. You are an absolute star!

  • Action Mental Health in Primary 5

    Wed 13 Oct 2021

The Primary Five Classes each spent a day taking part in a workshop with Leah from Action Mental Health.

The children were taught helpful strategies to use when they feel upset such as talking to someone, do something you enjoy, find ways to relax, remind yourself of the good things you have in life and where to look if you need to access more help.

All the children fully participated in the workshop and really benefitted from and enjoyed it. We would like to say a big thank you to Leah and Action Mental Health.

  • St Ita's Eco Committee

    Wed 06 Oct 2021

St. Ita’s Eco-Committee consists of class representatives from P4-P7 who have been chosen by their peers. The Eco-Committee meet monthly with Miss McGarry to discuss key issues within the school and how we can improve upon these.

Each week the committee carry out important tasks such as emptying the recycling bins, monitoring food waste and  completing energy surveys.

We pride ourselves in keeping our school environment clean and litter free.

Our main focus this year is on Transport. We work closely with Sustrans to help promote active journeys to school.

On the 21st of March 2019, our Eco-Committee received the prestigious Ambassador School Award. The award recognises excellence in the Eco-School’s programme and is a tremendous achievement for our school!
